Foraged was my one-time collaboration with textile artist Annabella Sardelis in 2019. Studying the natural colors yielded from Minnesota plants, we scouted and foraged the Twin Cities bioregion to create handmade natural dyes from birch, buckthorn, black walnut, elderberry, goldenrod, jewelweed, sumac and tansy. Having never painted with natural dyes, I poured and dipped the vibrant liquids, finding my technique along the way. These explorations culminated in a two-person exhibition at Gamut Gallery in Minneapolis, inviting the public to celebrate Minnesota color while beholding the power of plants.
